My Story

Meet Dave Pauldine, an Experienced Leadership Development Speaker

I’m Dave Pauldine, sole proprietor of Pauldine Enterprises LLC. With a 35-year career, much of it at the executive and CEO level, I bring real-world leadership experience to every speech and presentation I deliver. I also hold a master’s degree in leadership and have made it both my craft and my passion.

That’s why, after retiring in 2014, I founded this company to offer the following core services:

  • Speaking Engagements
  • Leadership Development Services
  • Consulting

Approach

As a leadership development speaker, I keep things simple and focus on what matters most to the client, applying a conversational, approachable delivery style. My primary focus is delivering practical, impactful leadership talks. I also offer leadership development and consulting services that reinforce key lessons and give organizations the tools to put them into practice.

Experience

During my 35-year career, I faced countless challenges and opportunities, including serving as President/CEO of two of the largest higher education institutions in the country. In my final role as President/CEO of DeVry University and The Keller Graduate School of Management, I led an organization of approximately 7,500 employees, with peak revenues exceeding $1.4 billion.

I also navigated periods of decline, external threats to our business, and the usual mix of mistakes and setbacks that most organizations face over time. By the end, I felt like I had seen it all.

Career Lessons

To become an expert in leadership training for executive transition and career growth, I worked across deeply regulated sectors of higher education, in public companies, private companies, and an ESOP. Beyond working with employees across North America, I regularly met with students, parents, accreditors, state and federal regulators, shareholders, governing boards, labor unions, service providers, employers, the media, and fellow educators.

I spent considerable time traveling across North America, with additional trips to Asia, Europe, South America, and the Caribbean. Along the way, I delivered countless presentations and speeches, navigated moments of chaos and crisis, juggled multiple priorities, and tackled a relentless stream of daily challenges, making mistakes in the process.

The pace was demanding, and the pressure was absolute, especially while managing my life as a husband and father of two. This hardship and experience helped me become a higher education leadership speaker for academic conferences, which is why I don’t regret any of it.

Leadership Education & Expertise

My career falls into two distinct parts: before and after grad school. Midway through my career, I earned a master’s degree in leadership, an experience that not only sharpened my confidence and competence but also redirected the course of my career.

My studies were thorough and wide-ranging. I dove into the art and science of leadership, gaining a clearer understanding of the traits, behaviors, and characteristics that define effective leaders. This foundation pushed me to put theory into practice and continuously refine my skills.

Goal

My career exposed me to leadership in its most demanding form. Today, as a keynote speaker on managing crisis and organizational change, my purpose is straightforward: share what I know, inspire better leadership, and help individuals and groups thrive.

Leadership challenges stall growth, strain culture, and create uncertainty in even the strongest organizations. I draw on decades of executive experience to help leaders work through those challenges. As a speaker, I share lessons from years at the highest levels of leadership—lessons that inspire action and drive lasting change. My areas of expertise include strategic planning, culture, ethics, high-performing teams, execution, and the distinction between management and leadership.

Now retired, I bring the same passion and energy to help others grow. Through my firm, I offer speaking services and leadership development solutions, as well as executive leadership consulting for higher education institutions for clients serious about strengthening their skills in operational management, strategic planning, culture, ethics, and building high-performing teams.
